Hard Bounce Rates - Understanding What They Are & How They Can Hurt Your Account
If you’ve been directed to this article it’s because the MyBizMailer system has noticed that the Hard Bounce Rates for your campaigns/account have either reached or exceeded the hard bounce rate threshold or they are getting close to doing so. A hard bounce is when an email permanently cannot be delivered to. Hard Bounced email addresses are then automatically marked from “Subscribed” to “Inactive” by the MyBizMailer system. These “Inactive” subscribers will not be emailed again. An email hard bounces because of one of the following reasons: - The recipients email address does not exist - The domain does not exist - The recipients email server has completely blocked delivery Soft bounces are more of a temporary issue. The MyBizMailer system logs the email address but then allows three more attempts to try and email them. If those attempts do not result in a successful delivery then the system will mark that subscriber as “Inactive” and will not mail them again. Honestly 0 is the best. But in this day and age that’s a near impossible thing to achieve. The latest statistics on email addresses estimate that the average user keeps the same email address for only 6-12 months.
